Come On Out And Play

Be a Kid AgainYou’ve seen the way kids experience pure bliss from the simplicity of a blown bubble. That used to be you. Remember?

Some of you grown folks have forgotten how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Why not let go for a moment? Go ahead. Let yourself be a kid again – just for a few moments, or a whole day. Invite some friends to come and play with you. You’ll be glad you did.

I’ve come up with a few ideas to get you going:

  1. Put some sugar on your Fruit Loops.
  2. Roll down a steep hill.
  3. Rollerskate.
  4. Find a playground and swing (hey, what’s happened to the merry-go-rounds?).
  5. Race a friend on foot or on a bike… not in the car.
  6. Get some silly putty.
  7. Respond with ‘why?’ questions when you don’t agree with what you’re hearing.
  8. Eat cookie dough.
  9. Jump on the bed.
  10. Play tag.
  11. Fuss a bit, then take an afternoon snooze.
  12. Climb a tree.
  13. Get someone to buy you something you don’t need.
  14. Blow bubbles.
  15. Sing really loud.
  16. Chase the ice cream truck down the street.
  17. Hop scotch.
  18. Click over to hulu.com and watch a classic tv show.
  19. Get a box of 64 Crayons, some sidewalk chalk and finger paints. Color your world.
  20. Get some friends together and make up a game to play. Just make up the rules as you go along.
  21. Play in a bubble bath until the water is cold and your fingers look like prunes. Add more bubbles and hot water to warm it back up.
  22. Have someone read you a bedtime story, then tuck you in.

And yes, I enjoy quite a few of these activities from time to time and I plan to try a few more.

Have more fun. Simply do you.

Naps, naps are nice. Blowing bubbles and coloring are great stress relievers too.

This is a great post. I think when we become adults we forgot about all the simple things. I have done a few things on this list just so I can get rid of the worries of life.

Aren’t the bubbles fun? I forgot to mention water ballons… I’m definitely getting some of those soon.
