Come On Out And Play
You’ve seen the way kids experience pure bliss from the simplicity of a blown bubble. That used to be you. Remember?
Some of you grown folks have forgotten how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Why not let go for a moment? Go ahead. Let yourself be a kid again – just for a few moments, or a whole day. Invite some friends to come and play with you. You’ll be glad you did.
I’ve come up with a few ideas to get you going:
- Put some sugar on your Fruit Loops.
- Roll down a steep hill.
- Rollerskate.
- Find a playground and swing (hey, what’s happened to the merry-go-rounds?).
- Race a friend on foot or on a bike… not in the car.
- Get some silly putty.
- Respond with ‘why?’ questions when you don’t agree with what you’re hearing.
- Eat cookie dough.
- Jump on the bed.
- Play tag.
- Fuss a bit, then take an afternoon snooze.
- Climb a tree.
- Get someone to buy you something you don’t need.
- Blow bubbles.
- Sing really loud.
- Chase the ice cream truck down the street.
- Hop scotch.
- Click over to hulu.com and watch a classic tv show.
- Get a box of 64 Crayons, some sidewalk chalk and finger paints. Color your world.
- Get some friends together and make up a game to play. Just make up the rules as you go along.
- Play in a bubble bath until the water is cold and your fingers look like prunes. Add more bubbles and hot water to warm it back up.
- Have someone read you a bedtime story, then tuck you in.
And yes, I enjoy quite a few of these activities from time to time and I plan to try a few more.
Have more fun. Simply do you.

Naps, naps are nice. Blowing bubbles and coloring are great stress relievers too.

This is a great post. I think when we become adults we forgot about all the simple things. I have done a few things on this list just so I can get rid of the worries of life.

Aren’t the bubbles fun? I forgot to mention water ballons… I’m definitely getting some of those soon.
I appreciate your compliment on my new design Christie. The output represents my official immersion into WordPress development. It’s addictive. I’m so glad my words brought forth a smile…
